Merch Package

A Merch Package for Paramore

Project Summary

This project consisted of designing merch for our favorite band.

Deliverables

The deliverables for this project consisted of 7 different pieces of merch with one of them being unconventional.

Inspiration

I started to look towards Paramore’s current era This is Why to find inspiration for the merch I would begin to create. Paying attention to the colors and the punk vibes being brought forward with a retro feel.

Color Palette

The final color palette takes colors from throughout the many videos, photo shoots, and cover art of the This is Why era. This results in many deeper warmer colors that carry a very earthy and retro feeling with them.

Design 1 - Tote Bag

The design plays with the lyrics of the song You First and emphasizes this internal battle within oneself about good vs. evil. The design of the tote bag plays with this idea by including both hearts and a knife as a play on the words of the lyrics, but also the message of the song.

Design 2 - Tour Merch

This design is for tour merch of Paramore’s most recent This is Why tour. The hoodie and shirt combo feature an aesthetic that resembles the band currently and dips into the pool of past eras of Paramore that many still cherish. The front of the design features a custom font I created using crayons to add texture. The back of the design has the tour dates and tour name with the bottom featuring Paramore’s legs surrounded with the same crayon texture as the logo on the front.

Design 3 - Poster

This design features the silhouettes of the band members from the cover of the This is Why album in a deep red to contrast the orange background. The lyrics to the lead single This is Why is featured in the background. The distress added to the poster helps to add more visual interest to the poster.

Design 4 - Hoodie / Poster

The hoodie design is a different type of design as it features a different aesthetic and would be for fans who love a louder design. The design uses a more vibrant version of the chosen color palette while playing with motifs of Paramore from their earlier eras. As a way to pay homage to themselves as they continue to change and grow as artists.

Design 5 - T-Shirt

This design features the silhouettes of the band members from the cover of the This is Why album similar to the poster above, but using a green version of the color palette and without the song lyrics to keep the shirt from being too busy.

Design 6 - Melting Clock

This item is my unconventional piece of merch and features the faces of the members in the center of the clock with the lyrics for running out of time circling them. The clock itself would go on the edge of the shelf and look like it is falling over the edge, which again emphasizes the view of never feeling like you have enough time, and/or time management just is not your forte.

Design 7 - Guitar Pick

The guitar pick design features the logo I created for the hoodie design and the band members’ names in the same Ransom font. The guitar pick is something that would be considered an exclusive piece of merch, as it would be similar to the way Taylor throws out guitar picks into the audience during live shows.
